Close CRM pricing: what a seat costs, and what gets billed on top
Close CRM plans run from about $19 to $149 a user a month, but the seat price is not the bill. Call minutes, SMS, and the single-user floor on the cheapest tier all change the maths.
Verdict
Close starts around $19 a user a month billed annually for a single user, with team plans from about $49. Call minutes and SMS are billed separately, which typically adds 30 to 50 percent.
The plans, at a glance#
| Tier | Roughly | Billing | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base / Solo | About $19/user/mo | Annual | One person, doing their own outbound |
| Startup / Essentials | About $49/user/mo | Annual | A team of two to five |
| Professional / Growth | About $99–109/user/mo | Annual | Teams that need coaching and reporting |
| Enterprise / Scale | About $139–149/user/mo | Annual | Custom roles and permissions |
Monthly billing is roughly 35 percent higher across the board.
The part that is not in the table#
Close is a CRM built around the phone. The dialler, the inbox, and SMS are native rather than integrations, which is the whole reason to choose it. None of that telephony usage is included in the seat price.
30–50%
Typical gap between seat price and real bill
Reported by Close users running phone-led outbound. The variable is call volume, not team size.
So the honest way to read the $19 entry price is: $19 plus however much your team talks. For a rep making 60 calls a day that is a meaningful line item. For a founder making six, it is not.
Before signing, work out your monthly call minutes and ask Close to price them explicitly. A quote that covers only seats is an incomplete quote.
The single-user trap on the cheapest tier#
The roughly $19 entry tier is capped at one user. This is easy to miss when scanning a pricing page, and it changes the comparison completely.
If you are two people, your real starting price is the next tier, around $49 a user a month billed annually. Two seats at $49 is $98 a month before a single call minute, which puts Close in a different bracket than the headline figure implies.
Annual versus monthly#
The annual discount on Close is unusually large, around 35 percent. That is real money, and it is also a real commitment to a tool whose total cost you cannot fully predict until you have run a month of calls through it.
The sensible order: one month monthly, measure the actual telephony spend, then switch to annual once you know what you are committing to.
Where Close makes sense, and where it does not#
Close earns its price when the sales process is genuinely phone-led. Having the dialler inside the CRM removes real friction that a Zapier-glued setup does not.
It stops making sense when your sales are email-led or self-serve. At that point you are paying a premium for telephony you barely use, and a free CRM tier covers the same pipeline management. The short version
What works
- Around $19 a user is genuinely cheap for a CRM with a native dialler rather than a bolted-on integration
- The annual discount reaches roughly 35 percent, larger than most CRMs offer
- You are billed for calling on usage, so a low-volume month costs less than a flat telephony add-on would
What does not
- The seat price excludes call minutes and SMS entirely, and reported real bills run 30 to 50 percent above the headline figure
- The cheapest tier is single-user, so any actual team starts at the next tier up
- Published plan names and prices vary between sources, which points to recent repricing. Get a written quote
- There is no free plan, so evaluating Close costs money from day one
Frequently asked questions
- How much does Close CRM cost?
- Close plans run from about $19 a user a month billed annually at the entry tier to roughly $139 to $149 at the top. Team plans start at about $49 a user a month. Call minutes and SMS are billed separately on top of every tier.
- Does Close CRM have a free plan?
- No. Close offers a free trial but no permanent free tier. If you want to evaluate a CRM at zero cost, HubSpot and Freshsales both have genuine free plans, though neither includes a native dialler the way Close does.
- Are call minutes included in the Close subscription?
- No. Calling and SMS are usage-billed on top of the seat price. This is the single biggest reason a Close bill comes in higher than budgeted. For a phone-heavy team, plan for the total to sit 30 to 50 percent above the per-seat figure.
- Is the cheapest Close plan usable for a team?
- No. The entry tier is limited to a single user, so it suits a solo founder doing their own outbound and nobody else. Two people means starting at the next tier, roughly $49 a user a month billed annually.
