Pros and cons

What works

  • Aimed squarely at SEO content production, with article generation and search-oriented features rather than generic chat drafting
  • Standard tier connects to Google Search Console and Analytics, tying content output to actual performance data
  • Annual billing takes 20 percent off, and a free plan exists for basic evaluation
  • Professional adds brand presence tracking, which covers visibility in AI-generated answers as well as classic search

What does not

  • The free plan excludes the full AI Article Writer and the GEO tools, so it cannot evaluate the actual product
  • Writesonic has repeatedly renamed and re-tiered its plans, with historical names including Small Team, Freelancer, Business, Standard, and Individual
  • At $39 for 15 articles a month, the per-article cost is high if you do not use the full allowance
  • The jump from Lite to Standard doubles the price to $79 for 30 articles, so scaling is not cheap

What Writesonic is aimed at#

Not general AI writing. Writesonic is built around SEO article production: generating long-form articles at volume, and increasingly tying that output to search performance data.

That focus is the reason to consider it and the reason to rule it out. A business that needs varied marketing copy is buying the wrong tool. A business that needs to publish twenty SEO articles a month is buying exactly the right one.

15 articles

Monthly allowance on the $39 Lite plan

Roughly $2.60 per article at full usage. Considerably more per article if you only publish five.

The free plan cannot evaluate the product#

The plan history is a genuine risk#

Writesonic has renamed and restructured its tiers repeatedly. Plans previously called Small Team, Freelancer, Business, Standard, and Individual have appeared and disappeared, with article caps moving alongside them.

That matters for two practical reasons: comparison articles written even a few months ago describe plans that no longer exist, and a business building a content process around a specific allowance may find that allowance redefined.

PlanPrice (annual)Articles/monthKey addition
Free$0NoneInterface access only
Lite$3915Core writing
Standard$7930Search Console + Analytics
Professional$199100Brand presence tracking, API

Where Standard earns the extra $40#

The Search Console and Analytics integration is the genuinely interesting part of this product. Generating articles is commodity capability now. Connecting what you published to how it actually performed, inside the same tool, is not.

For a business serious about content SEO, that connection is worth more than the doubled article allowance.

Cheaper alternatives for different needs#

If the need is short-form copy rather than articles, Rytr at $7.50 a month or Copy.ai at $29 for five seats deliver far more value per dollar. Writesonic's pricing only makes sense if long-form article volume is genuinely the requirement.

Who Writesonic is for

Buy it if

  • Your writing need is specifically SEO articles at volume, rather than varied marketing copy
  • You want content generation and performance tracking connected in one tool via Search Console integration
  • You will actually use the monthly article allowance, since that is what you are paying for

Skip it if

  • You want to evaluate properly before paying; the free plan deliberately excludes the article writer
  • Your writing is varied short-form copy rather than long articles, where Copy.ai or Rytr cost far less
  • You need pricing stability, given how often Writesonic has restructured its tiers

Frequently asked questions

How much does Writesonic cost?
Writesonic Lite is $39 a month billed annually for 15 articles, Standard is $79 for 30 articles, and Professional is $199 for 100 articles. Annual billing gives a 20 percent discount against monthly.
Is the Writesonic free plan useful?
Only for looking around. The free plan excludes the full AI Article Writer and the GEO tools, which are the core of the product. It lets you see the interface but not evaluate what you would actually be paying for.
Why do Writesonic plan names keep changing?
Writesonic has repeatedly renamed and re-tiered its plans. Historical names include Small Team, Freelancer, Business, Standard, and Individual. Article caps and feature boundaries have moved with them, so verify the current structure at signup rather than relying on any published comparison.
Is Writesonic better than Jasper for SEO content?
They target different things. Writesonic is built around SEO article volume with Search Console integration. Jasper is built around brand voice consistency across varied content. For pure SEO article production, Writesonic is more directly aimed at the job.

Nizam started Tested AI after noticing how often published software prices are simply wrong. Most articles copy a vendor's pricing page once and never look again. He checks every figure against the vendor's own page, cross-references independent trackers, and states plainly when they disagree rather than picking whichever number reads best. He does not claim to have run these tools in production, and the reviews say so at the top of every page.

  • Checks every price against the vendor page
  • Reports source conflicts instead of hiding them
  • No vendor has paid for placement
