Verdict

Head to head

Jasper suits a team standardising on one brand voice at $69 a month. Copy.ai is cheaper for up to five people, then jumps hard. Notion AI only makes sense if you already run your work in Notion.

What the winner gets right, and where it falls short

What works

  • All three include real, usable AI writing capability rather than a stripped-down demo of a paid product
  • Each represents a genuinely different pricing philosophy: per-brand-voice, per-seat-with-a-ceiling, and bundled-into-a-workspace
  • None of the three lock a business into a single underlying AI model exclusively

What does not

  • None of the three publish a clean, predictable per-seat price all the way from one person to twenty; each has an awkward zone where the pricing model breaks down
  • Direct feature comparison is difficult because the three are not really building the same product: a brand-voice tool, a chat tool, and a workspace with AI bolted on
  • Switching between them later means losing whatever brand voice or workflow training was built up in the one being replaced

The short version#

These three are not really competing for the same buyer. Jasper is built for a business that wants a consistent, trained brand voice across a small team. Copy.ai is built for cheap, flexible, chat-based drafting for up to five people. Notion AI is not a standalone writing tool at all — it is a feature of Notion's workspace platform, and the real purchase decision is whether a business wants Notion, with AI as part of that decision.

Price, side by side, at different team sizes#

Team sizeJasperCopy.aiNotion AI (Business)
1 person$69/mo$29/mo (covers up to 5)$20/mo
3 people$69/mo (1 seat only)$29/mo$60/mo
5 peopleCustom (Business)$29/mo$100/mo
10 peopleCustom (Business)$1,000/mo$200/mo

Jasper's Pro plan is priced per seat with only one seat included, so a team past one person is already looking at the custom-priced Business plan. Copy.ai's flat five-seat pricing is the strongest deal for a small team, until a sixth person forces a jump to $1,000 a month. Notion AI scales cleanly and predictably per member, but only if the business is already paying for Notion as a workspace tool in the first place.

Jasper: for one voice, done well#

Jasper's Brand Voice training is the most developed of the three at actually sounding like a specific business consistently, which is what its price is buying. The constraint is the two-voice cap on Pro, which matters immediately for an agency or a multi-brand business, and not at all for a single business with one consistent voice.

Copy.ai: cheap until it is not#

For two to five people, Copy.ai's flat pricing is a genuinely better deal than either alternative. The jump to Growth at $1,000 a month for the sixth seat is steep enough that a business approaching that threshold should price out per-seat alternatives before assuming Copy.ai stays the cheaper option.

Notion AI: the real cost is Notion, not the AI#

A business not already using Notion should not evaluate Notion AI as a standalone writing tool purchase — it is a $20-per-member workspace subscription that happens to include AI, and buying it purely for the AI features is an expensive way to get writing assistance compared with either alternative.

Which to actually pick#

A single business or a very small team writing in one consistent voice should start with Jasper's trial. A team of two to five doing varied, chat-based writing gets the best price-to-capability ratio from Copy.ai. A business already running its documentation and project work in Notion should treat Notion AI as a natural extension of a decision it was already making, not a separate purchase.

Tool by tool

Jasper AI

Best for one brand voice

Brand Voice training and a dedicated content workspace, at the cost of a hard cap of two voices before the custom-priced Business plan.

Starting price
$69/mo
Best for
A single business writing consistently in one established voice

Copy.ai

Best value under 5 seats

Five seats for $29 a month is the cheapest per-seat writing tool of the three, until the sixth seat forces a jump to $1,000 a month.

Starting price
$29/mo (5 seats)
Best for
A small team of two to five people, mostly chat-based drafting

Notion AI

Best if already on Notion

Not a standalone product — full access requires Notion's $20-per-member Business plan, which is really the price of the workspace, not just the AI.

Starting price
$20/mo/member (Business plan)
Best for
A team whose docs and wikis already live in Notion

Frequently asked questions

Which is cheapest for a small team?
For two to five people, Copy.ai at $29 a month for five seats is the cheapest. Past five people, Copy.ai jumps to $1,000 a month, at which point Jasper's $69-a-month single-seat plan, scaled per person needed, or Notion AI's $20-per-member Business plan (if already on Notion) become more reasonable comparisons.
Is Notion AI worth it just for the writing features?
Generally no. Getting Notion AI requires the $20-per-member Business plan, which is really a workspace subscription with AI included, not an AI writing tool sold on its own. It only makes sense if a business already uses or was already planning to use Notion for docs and wikis.
Which tool is best for an agency managing several client brand voices?
None of the three handle this cheaply at the self-serve tier. Jasper caps Pro at two Brand Voices before requiring the custom-priced Business plan; Copy.ai and Notion AI are not built around distinct client brand voices at all. An agency with several clients should get an actual Jasper Business quote before assuming any of these three scales affordably.
